Our Story
Driven out of passion and love for Yoga,Tula Flow is aiming to create balance on and off the mat , overcoming the mind finding freedom and hapiness deeply connecting with ourselves ( Sanskrit: Chitta Vrittis- the fluctuations ) by blending Yin and Yang Yoga practices including Asana, Breathwork ( Pranayama), Meditation , Mantra Chanting, Nada Yoga ( the sound - music), Somatic Movements and dance elements ( creating a flow) .
The word tula originates from Sanskrit and literally translates as : balance and also refers to the astrological zodiac sign libra . Balance is essential in life , in order to maintain a happy healhty lifestyle . The definition of a flow is an act of moving or running smoothly, a movement of water . An example of a flow is the movement of a stream. The word Yoga orginates from the Sanskrit word “yuj” and translates as “to yoke” , to unite . In Yoga this translation often refers to uniting our body, mind and spirit in order to attain Self-realization which can lead us to our true essence , helping us to connect with who we really are , because in our most natural state we experience pure bliss and happiness. If we are looking at Ayurveda or Traditional Chinese medicine health is maintained by creating balance thoughout our system , instead of going from one extreme to another we want to maintain equanimity . Light can only be seen if compared to somthing darker and a shade can only be created if light is shining on an object - refering to the univeral symbol of Yin and Yang where one does not exist without the other.
Our Teachings/Classes
A typical Tulaflow Yoga class brings a combination of skillfully sequenced Yin and Yang Asana practices . The Yin sequence is awakening the body from the inside, getting deep into the fascia and connective tissue, allowing space for nourishment in the joints. The stimulation of the meridian system ,allows oxygen to flow to every cell of the body. Through long passive holds and breathwork, bioenergy ( chi / prana) is directed to certain areas of the body, where healing to happen. This practice is accomanied by a dynamic , mindful slow ( Vinyasa Krama) flow practice , creating somatic movements, consciously linking movement with breath, allowing energy to move freely throughout our system - both Yin and Yang sequences are stronlgy linked with the breath, bringing deep release and breath awareness throughout the class . Tulaflow classes are underlined with carefully chosen music to enhance receptivity (Yoga of Sound Nada Yoga) - Mantra chanting can be found to help us dropping into the heart space at the centre of our bodies ( Anahata Chakra) through inner vibration we can experience an emotional release . Tulaflow Yoga classes aim to bring a well rounded balance into our system - Yin brings gentle grounding and opening - the Yang flow leaves us energized and gives a feeling of freedom through movement and breath . This equilibrium can connect us deeper to ourselves - stepping off the mat - ready to experience the world just as it is radiating out happiness, joy and bliss ( present in our most natural state ) - out into this beautiful world with this beautiful gift of life that has been given to us ! Living in the present moment :)
